Hi!

Planning a trip to Tokyo end of May. It's our first time in Japan. As a couple, we prefer a relaxed itinerary, get a feel of the city and enjoy the food. We hope to visit a few shrines and parks, but that wouldn't be a priority. We also hope to enjoy Tokyo Disney Sea.

Please let me know your thoughts on this itinerary:

Day 1 (Friday): Arrive in Tokyo around noon; Check-in at Hotel Sunroute Shinjuku; Explore Shinjuku

Day 2 (Saturday): Ginza, Tokyo Metro Tower

Day 3 (Sunday): Shibuya, Harajuku, Meiji Shrine, Omotesando

Day 4 (Monday): Odaiba

Day 5 (Tuesday): Transfer to Hotel Emion Tokyo Bay; Tokyo Disney Sea

Day 6 (Wednesday): Tokyo Disney Sea

Day 7 (Thursday): Depart via Haneda airport

Would you suggest adding another day (after Tokyo Disney Sea)? If so, would it be feasible to transfer again from Hotel Emion Tokyo Bay to a Shinjuku area hotel?

Is it ok to arrive in Tokyo Disney Sea after lunch (on Day 5)?

Any feedback would be much appreciated. Thanks!

It looks like a feasible itinerary, I assume you've based it on your personal interests after reading up on Tokyo. I say that only because I even as someone who's loved Disney for over 40 years, I cannot imagine choosing to spend a day / 2 nights of my precious Japan time at Disney, therefore it's hard not to suggest changes to your itinerary based on my feelings, rather than what you want to do.

If you haven't already found it, www.Japan-guide.com is probably the single best web resource on Japan, and a great way to narrow down what you want to see and the practicals of travel etc.

Best plan of attack for me for Tokyo was to map everything I wanted to visit onto a map and then group by proximity in terms of what to visit each day. It looks as though this is exactly what you've done, so can't suggest any changes (that don't involve ditching Disney!)

Sounds like a good itinerary for a Tokyo first trip.
Tokyo is a large city with many diversions.
My tip would be to look at youtube, Tokyo Eye, a NHK program.

Just be aware that Harajuku and Omotesando can be a zoo on Sundays, the day many Japanese are off work. You will be shuffling along the Omotesando sidewalks with literally thousands of people stretching for blocks.

Kavey - Disney Sea is actually one of our primary reasons for going. Do you think it's worth spending 2 days there, or would 1 day suffice?

Curiousego - Considered going to Harajuku on a Sunday because of tips I've read elsewhere. Will reconsider this plan.

Melo, in which case your itinerary looks decent.
Honestly, I've never been to Disney in Japan, it's not a priority for me, so can't say whether 1 or 2 days is best.
I'm sure you'll have a great trip either way!

Oh, regarding Harajuku, if you really want to see lots of teens in their cosplay outfits, which are amazing, then a weekend is best.

I think its okay to allot 2 days for Disney Resort Tokyo since they house 2 theme parks, namely Disney Land and Disney Sea. Also, you cannot park hop if you buy a 1 or 2 day passport, they even have separate train stations.

Where are you coming from and where are you landing? Just a few thoughts. First I do not think you need to spend more than a evening at Tokyo Disney Sea.
Second, you do not have to move hotels just to see Disney. Third, lines for the Tokyo metro tower can be quite long. Fourth, Shinjuku is a rather large area to explore when you arrive.
