I used to get 10 day extensions for 2,000 Baht at the immigration building behind Sathorn Road. One time I needed 11 days so they did that for the same price.

Wow! thanks everyone for all the great info. This site has been the most help to me.
Eurotravler/brandinbangkok lets meet up! I set up a email account for my travel info, feel free to email me there [email protected] Petel, I like to talk with you a bit more to. Again thanks everyone for all the help. I think Im going to do a serviced apt since I plan on being in Bangkok for 1-2 weeks. Any suggestions? |

Try the Buddy Lodge in Bangkok..through Asiarooms.com or www.i-escape.com. Since Bangkok is so spread out, decide what you want to see and do and try to find accommodation in the area. However, taxis are not expensive and are air-conditioned. Tuk-tuk drivers are not always reliable ...might agree to take you somewhere but not have a clue where the place is...or might advise that the temple you want to visit is closed, when it isn't, and try to convince you to go elsewhere. Try the massage at Wat Po... not very private but very cheap and generally good. Chiang Mai is a big city...so don't go if you are expecting to find a village or hill tribes. Mae Hong Son is more interesting.

So I got some things ironed out.
Im staying at the Royal Hotel in Bangkok 24th-28th. Chaing Mai 29th-3rd at the Baan Orapin Phuket Dec 4th-9th(havent decided yet maybe Kata??) Then back to Bangkok for 10-12th. I dont want to plan what Im going to do to much..Of course the main temples etc but I want to wing it in each city. Just a quick thanks to everyone, this site helped me allot. Thanks! Oh yes one more question, I wanted to book a "discovery pass" through Thai airways. I heard you can get 3 flights in thailand for a flat fee. I'd like to book my flights to the different cities now since I hear Im going at the start of high season. anyone recommend a travel agent I can book through? Im in the US |
I would first look at www.airasia.com. There flights are much cheaper than Thai, often half as much.
I hope to catch up to you at some point on the 25th! Cheers! Tamara |
