This is such a general question, I don't know if I can be of much help. Singapore to Bangkok is a well-traveled route. There is excellent inexpensive transport avialble, both trains and buses. Think about what you want to do/see/experience on your trip. Do you love cities? Do you want to visit small villages? are you most interested in seeing every beach along the way? Take a look at guidebooks to Malaysia and Thailand and see what interests you.

Hi

My wife and I have been on vacations to Thailand and Singapore a couple of times. I have posted trip reports on my homepage http://gardkarlsen.com :-) In Singapore you might want to consider www.the-inncrowd.com. Have a great trip

You can bus or train all the way up, you can train from Singapore to KL and train up to Butterworth ( the rail station on the mainland for Penang ), the rail line then crosses into Thailand, up thru Hat yai to Surat Thani. From Surat Thani you can take a boat to Koh Samui and then island hope thru Koh Phangan and Koh Tao back to the mainland at Chumphon. From Chumphon you can bus or re-join the rail line north through Bang Saphan, Dolphin Bay and then the Hua hin area, then either head north by bus or train to Bangkok or go northwest from Hua hin to Kanchanaburi and River Kwai and either continue towards North Thailand or head east by bus or train to Bangkok.

The alternative route is after Penang take the boat to Langkawi and then boat to Satun in southwest Thailand, from there bus north to Koh Lanta, Krabi and then around to Phuket. You can then bus across to Surat Thani and start those island hops.

Weatherwise the route vuia Langkawi and through Krabi/Phuket would be better that time of year.
