First time getting out of the country

Hi there,

I'm going on a vacation on October and it's gonna be my first time abroad. I think the whole thing will last for 5 days. Can you guys suggest good locations, preferably located on East/Southeast Asia? I'd also like to escape from the heat here in the Philippines, so a place with cool climate (10-20 degrees Celsius) would be nice.I'm eyeing either Tokyo or Shanghai, but I'm open to other suggestions.

Thank you.

I think Japan is a fine idea, but Tokyo wouldn't be my choice of cities. It depends on your interests of course, but do some research before you decide. Personally, I'd opt for Kyoto. Best resource on japan on the web is www.japan-guide.com

Have you decided on your destination?
I would be careful with the "golden week" holiday if you are planning to visit China in October.
I have not visited Japan (although I would like to) but I have lived in Beijing for more than a year now and visited Shanghai twice!
It is very easy to get around and there shouldn't be too much of a language barrier! 5 days would be perfect as well... There are a bunch of nice water towns around the city if you want to get away from the madness!
If you have more questions feel free to ask them!

i also suggest you China. China is much bigger country to chose a cool destination (check destination with hilly areas). otherwise at the moment, whole asia is full of heat and humidity.
