First China visit - bringing in my prescriptions.
 

We are leaving in just over 2 weeks for a Viking River Cruise/tour to Beijing and ending in Shanghai.

Viking states we should bring our prescriptions in their original containers. If we do that we'd each have about 8 bottles to bring. We usually put our prescriptions in small daily packs (zip pouches for each day) and take those on vacation.

I'm wondering if we can still do this or if we should indeed bring the bottles with us. As it is we're running out of room for our toiletries.

I'm just not sure about China since this is our first visit. Any advice or experience on this would be greatly appreciated.

Yes it is better but not really essential. They won't care unless it appears that you are trying to import. They won't check in any case. I never has an issue. We also always bring some over-the counter medication and vitamins (several big bottles) for friends in China and no questions were ever asked.

I peel off the labels from my bottles and put them on the zip locks. If you are mixing medications by the day, I'd put the label on a ziplock with one sample pill.

It's really a safety issue, in case a doctor needs to know what medication you've been taking, and you aren't able to tell them.

Peel the label off the bottles and stick in or onto a little zip bags with at least one sample pill in it.
This is actually a safety thing. If you get sick or injured, the doctor would want to know what drugs you have taken..

We have been to China three times and always dumped the pills into baggies. No problems at all. No problems anywhere we've traveled doing that.
Have a list of your prescriptions with you.

We have been to China several times. Our medication was just in tiny containers from the pharmacy. No questions asked at all. We landed at many different airports too.
Good idea to have your prescriptions with you in case you need a refill for some strange reason.

Thanks for all of these tips. This makes me feel better. I did print out the mail order prescription list so I will have that on hand as well (just in case).

I'd just hate to bring a 90 day supply bottle for each little pill - what a waste of space.
