Firefly airlines - reliable and safe?

Hi,

We are thinking of doing a short trip to Cameron Highlands from Singapore. The fastest way to get there seems to be taking the Firefly flight to Ipoh and driving to the hotel.

However, I hear Firefly is prone to cancellations at short notice. Also not sure about their safety standards. I am also not too comfortable in small planes.

Should we just fly to KL and drive from there. That seems like a lot of time doing travel rather than time spent at the destination.

Please advise!

Firefly is owned by Malaysian Air, which is an excellent airline. Thus, I would expect training and maintenance to be fine. They do fly tiny planes, so if you are really uncomfortable in small planes, that may make the decision for you.

I've used them on three occasions, totally reliable but no frills. They don't muck around.

I've flown with Firefly a couple of times without any problems. Where did you hear that Firefly is prone to cancellations at short notice?

Their planes are not that small:

I have flown them from Langkawi to Penang. Very impressed. Will be flying with them again this August. I am sure you will be happy. Cheers.

Hi. Thanks very much for your inputs. I took your advise and flew with them last weekend. It worked out fine. I was happy with the service. Glad I chose to fly direct to Ipoh rather than travel via KL.
