finding something positive in the fact that I have to cancel my trip
Yes, it's true. Trip cancelled. My friend was just laid off and obviously needs to cancel. Since our trip involved places and things based on her being a first timer and I budgeted for sharing a room, we're cancelling. So I was feeling very sorry for myself. But then the positive came to mind. I could reschedule for November/early December when fodorites like Bob and kathy and Guen and Carol and Bill and Andy etc might be there. So do any of you have your dates set yet? If so, I'll exchange my ff ticket and plan on heading to Bangkok in then.

Bob-- I'd take you up on it if I could! May/June are the impossible months for me at work since we have a big event in June.
Kathie-- I'll hold off doing anything until you figure out your dates are. At least meeting up with you and, hopefully, other fodorites will turn something positive out of this. My other positive is maybe I can lose another 30 pounds (I've lost 30 since last trip) so I can really have a great wardrobe made!
Can you tell that I'm desperately trying to cheer myself up?

Gloria-sorry to hear about your friend's job situation. I suggest you think of your trip as being postponed, not cancelled. For our plans, we're stuck going to Bali with Bob in May, so we don't know about November. I can say that the last two weeks of novemebr are a great time to be in Thailand. This year, the weather was perfect and the crowds had not yet arrived.

Gloria - sorry to hear of your trip postponement and your friend's job situation. The folks at the "O" will just have to wait till you get there next November. We won't be there then but hopefully you can meet up with some of the other regulars.

Really sorry to hear about your cancellation!! What a bummer! Glad you could see the positive side to it though.
I don't have dates yet, but will be in BKK during the Christmas and New Years season this year for sure. I will probably arrive in BKK sometime around the 15th-18th of Dec. End of Nov/early Dec is always Germany and Switzerland for me.
