Finding hotels

I am looking for a clean and comfortable place, it does'nt have to be posh. This is for Bangkok, Singapore and K/L. Somewhere close to the trains. Can someone help me out on this?

Train, I assume you mean the intercity mass transit type?

Check this web site for hotel and prices and input at the top of the page the location name of the BTS or underground station that you would like to stay at(use the "or near" function and click "Search").

I'll only comment on Singapore, having just done the hotel search last month.

The Y at one orchard road is clean and comfortable at a very reasonable price. Usually around $100 US. I stayed here in 2008 and loved the location.

For a bit, okay a lot, more posh you could check out the newly renovated Intercontinental. Right at the MRT Station (Bugis), and a few weeks ago I got a total price -including all taxes-of about $550 for 3 nights.

Our room and view were great, and they sent up a birthday cake to me after simply noticing the date on my passport at check in!

In Bangkok, I liked the Landmark hotel and Centre Point Silom. Both very nice, right next to the train, and quite reasonable.

We stayed at the Maya in KL. Very Hip, good restaurant, and within sight of the Petronas towers. I was sick and drugged while there, so I don't remember much about it, but our group of 6 all loved it.

You can try this website, it has a good hotels guide of Singapore, as well as some good suggestions for self-guided tours of the city and for restaurants: http://www.metropolasia.com/Singapore
