Family japan trip

Need a possible best suggestion as we are from malaysia to japan 1st time,as plane ticket has already bought and flight is on coming dec 13th.with 9night staying at shinagawa,Tokyo for 4night and hakuba in Nagano for 4night (skiing) and the last night will be back to Kansai,Osaka before depart but because of 1st day landing in japan also in Kansai airport by later we found out there's a huge distance to make it to shinagawa. Is bullet train is the best choice we have? Is there any places we shouldn't miss out along this trip plan that I mention above? I really need some good advice from you guys..

Depending on your arrival time you might take train or plane to Tokyo. If you arrive late you'll perhaps need to overnight. There are overnight buses but that's not the way is want to begin my holiday.

What time? Arrive 13th or 14th?

The good news is that the Experience Japan fare of 10,000 yen is available on either date for flights from Kansai KIX to Tokyo Haneda.

The not-good news is that the last morning flight is at 8:10 AM and then next flight is 9 hours later. Four seats at the cheap rate on that flight on both days.

Japan Airlines schedule is not as good.

Skymark has $96 flights from Kobe. Good schedule for you. I think there are buses from KIX to the Kobe airport. But adding that cost and time doesn't make it a bargain.

Starflyer has KIX-HND and a schedule that should work. Don't know the price (actually I don't know anything about the airline other than what I just wrote): http://www.starflyer.jp/en/

Train would be a limited express train from Kansai Airport to Shin-Osaka or Kyoto and then shinkansen to Shinagawa. Cost is 15,800 yen per person according to hyperdia. I don't know if there are discounts for kids. You may be able to find a discounted price.

Taking a "normal train" is not a good option. You would have to travel on 8 different trains and take 10 hours to save about 6000 yen per person.

The limited express train from the airport connecting to a shinkansen is 4 hours.
