Experience Japan Fare offer extended

The Experience Japan Fare offer from ANA has been extended to October 25, 2014:
https://www.ana.co.jp/wws/us/e/wws_c...experience_jp/

That is US $103.90 all in.

A few weeks ago when I checked on this offer for somebody here it was only good thru March 29. That fare is generally available - if there are 9 flights a day between Haneda and Hiroshima, I would not be surprised to find that fare available on every one. They are easy to book online.

JAL also has a some discount fares for visitors.

Not heading to Japan, but I'm flying ANA in business class in April. Just wondered what you think of their service in biz. Thanks!

Time to go to Okinawa Bill???

Aloha!

mrwunrfl Feb 22nd, 2014 08:46 AM

I've flown on ANA in economy and first class. Am looking forward to a biz class flight LAX-NRT in October on one of their 777-300ER that has the newer staggered seat config. Looks like both ORD flights have those seats.

Okinawa! I would have to move my departure date to the left. Not a bad idea. Current plan is Tohoku.

I wonder if there is a blackout period that they are not listing on the website. I put in the day I arrive in Japan which is during the JAL blackout and no flights came up even though I know there are at least two ANA flights that day....

I am planning on Tohoku next year....looking forward to hearing about it, mrwunrfl....

Want to add Jetstar to the affordable flights. Just bought a ticket from Osaka to Narita airport for 8,460 yen. Could have gotten it a bit cheaper but wanted to pick my seat:)

Bill, I'm also doing LAX-NRT and then on to BKK. These two flights are in biz on ANA. I found a web site that shows the meals served. Sounds pretty good! And the staggered seating looks nice as well. Now if I could just get ANA to tell me what seat assignments I have.............

There is a surprisingly large number of low cost airlines operating in Japan now. Most of them are subsidiaries of major airlines. The fares are very low (and one of them even has special, lower, rates for foreigners), but I know no way of searching other than looking at each web site individually. Okinawa, Kyushu, and Hokkaido are very competitive destinations.

Mara: you cannot book domestic ANA flights more than a few weeks out.

simpsonc510: the ANA staggered business class seats are very good: private, almost secluded, and comfortable for both sitting and sleeping--but you may have to stand up to allow the motors to move it in or out of bed mode. I found the food to be disappointing (though the presentation is nice), and very small portions (same for the wine) but they have an extensive selection of snacks that they'll heat up for you on demand. The FAs leave you pretty much alone: they expect you to press the call button if you want something.

If you have the ANA PNR (usually the United page for reviewing the booking gives this) then you can look up your flight and make seat assignments on the ANA site, but you have to enter your name as Doe JohnQ (i.e., middle initial as part of first name).

Someotherguy, I've tried every which way but loose to input the locator number UA has on my reservation for ANA. Nothing works to pull up my res. I've finally sent an email. Hopefully they can answer my questions.

I saw the ANA snacks listing on their web site. That should be plenty to keep me full. I'm not a big eater on a flight (or at any other time, really). I understand that the NRT-BKK leg of my trip will be less impressive than the LAX-NRT leg. All I will really want to do is sleep and maybe read, plus have a snack once in a while.

Carol, I posted this awhile back on your other thread about the 787. But it's easy to look up your reservation vis a vis the record locator number that United gave you for your ANA booking.

The trick is the way you enter your name in the name fields on ANA's site.

Here's my original post (with additions in parentheses):

Once you're ticketed through United, they will issue you a United confirmation as well as an ANA confirmation #. Just go to ANA's website and click on the 'View Reservation' link (edit: new site lists this as the 'My Booking' tab) on the left-hand raill. From there, use the 'Non-Members' section to look up your reservation. Just a word to the wise on that part: make sure you use your full name (as it's listed on your United booking--with no spaces!) in order to access your reservation. So, for instance, if your name on is JOSEPH ROBERT STEPHENS, you'll enter in the Last Name field: STEPHENS and First Name: JOSEPHROBERT. (If you've booked as CAROL M SIMPSON, you'd enter: SIMPSON then CAROLM--make sense?)

If you don't fill out the name fields correctly, you won't be able to view your reservation online.

Hope this helps!

PS - My favorite biz class seat and service (and food--never ever had a bad meal on ANA so was surprised to hear that!) is ANA. It beats Singapore by a mile in my book. Flown them 4 times now from LAX on the 777-300ER and it's a hell of a product!
