While I don't know anything about the hotels, Siem Reap is fairly close (15 - 20 minutes maximum by tuk tuk) from Angkor Wat. I would suggest staying close to the tourist part of the town. i.e. Pub Street.

My fav location very good but Golden Banana good also
Gay owned friendly better landscaped nice $50 or so...
So either based on what you want check TA reviews
some of which are fake but lots of good ones there too.
Happy Journey,

As noted above, Siem Reap is close to the temples, so hotel location is not really an issue for access to Angkor.
I'd say that a pool is a necessity for visiting Angkor. It is SO hot, you'll appreciate a cool dip when you get back from the temples.

We really liked the Bopha Angkor, about a 5 minute walk to Pub street but in a quiet location. Even if you get a hotel nearer the temples you'll still need a tuk tuk and you'll either have to eat dinner in the hotel or get a taxi or tuk tuk to the town.

I also highly recommend the Bopha Angkor as being a very good place to stay. www.bopha-angkor.com
Also have a look at the Steung Siem Reap hotel. It is also in the market/pub st area http://www.steungsiemreaphotel.com/

try the Kool Hotel, excellent service, lovely restaurant and pool and only about $40.00. Heaps of hotels to choose from in SR so really depends on your budget. The closest temples are about 10 minutes out of town.
