Eva Airlines
 

Hi
my son is thinking of flying to Thailand from Tokyo in August for his holiday.
Eva Airlines have the best fare, but we had not heard of them until now. Has anyone flown EA and how did you like it?
I know the fare is good, how about safety, comfort, all those small things a mother needs to know~

Part of a large Taiwanese company with shipping, hotels, and other interests, although I believe the airline is nominally based in Portland, Oregon. Good safety record, service well above mainland Chinese airlines in quality, but not as high as Japanese airlines or Cathay Pacific on a good day. Economy class a little compressed as is often the case in Asian airlines, but there's a class between economy and business called Evergreen Deluxe which is worth paying a little more for--business class legroom, personal TV, economy food.

I wouldn't hesitate to fly with them again.

my best man who live in honolulu flies them all the time to asia and loves them, mainly because of the fares...he is a large man who complains about comforts so i think they must be fine in that category as well....

you son will have a blast in thailand...its a young persons pace with lots to do.....make sure he reads about the sex/disease situation and heeds it....no fooling around...sorry to send this to the mom BUT....

My younger sister just flew Eva on her first trip to Thailand last month. She loved it (also due to the fact that the plane was very empty--she had a whole row of seats to herself). She enjoyed it so much I have booked my mom a ticket for later this month to Manila (her first trip to Asia). The travel agent we worked with highly recommended it. China Airlines in our case had a cheaper fare but EVERYONE we talked to said they were well know for crashing. Just an FYI.

He teaches in Japan and they have a two week vacation in August. He is looking forward to the beaches this trip:)

Flew from Thailand with Eva a few months back. Only disappointment was that the cabin staff were determined to close all the window shutters during a day flight and 'bed' the passengers down to keep them quiet !!!. But, hey, it's a way to travel from A to B at a reasonable cost.

I have personally flown EVA (Evergreen Deluxe class), and found them to be very friendly, clean and safe. It's not exactly deluxe, but your son will be fine as a student. Also, living in Tokyo, he will already be used to the Asian style of service that some people may find a bit strange. I would definately fly with them again.

Thank you Jacob, he teaches English in Japan, so he is no longer the Student :) And yes, he is used to the Asian way of doing things~

flew too thailand from nyc. a couple of months ago. it's perfectly fine but atleast for that flight the econ seats did not have tv's and games on them.like catheys does.. which made the flight realy boring.. but just the though of going back too thailand made it all good..

so does your son have a new "girl fraind" down here.. LOL

As far as I know-he doesn't have a particular "girl friend" although he works with some very pretty Australian girls:)
But of course, a mom is the last to know ( I think)
