Enough time in BKK
Haven't been to Thailand since the opening of the new airport. Need input as to whether this portion of our possible itinerary will work on our return to the US from Thailand.
Air Asia flight from CNX arrives at BKK at 9:30 a.m. Eva Air flight from BKK to US departs at 12:15 p.m. We'll have almost 3 hours. Will this give us enough time to gather our bags from Air Asia and recheck on Eva Air, go thru customs, etc.? Already have the BKK to US booked. Checking out flights from CNX to BKK. Any input about the time frame is appreciated!! Thx. |
Will the Air Asia flight land at the new airport or the old airport? If it's the old airport, I wouldn't do it. If it's the new airport, it should be fine as long as Air Asia is roughly on time.
Many people would recommend that you fly to Bangkok the night before since the consequences of missing your outbound flight are rather dire. |
i agree with kathie...also air asia has a reputation of flying late....you need to get onto a flight that connexts with international flights that goes to the new airport...mayof the carriers have these for internal flights in thailand....if you need to change airports i don't think you have enough time...i would come to bkk the nite before

Thai Airways has earlier flights I think and if they do I would take it even if it is more money. But to be truly safe I would come back the night before. I would not risk the flight you are currently on.

Air Asia has a deserved reputation for late flights but their domestic flights aren't usually so bad. I would look at the Thai Airways options too for peace of mind. Air Asia is too risky to rely on for an international connection.

I suggest that you look at an earlier Thai Air flight. The financila savings by flying Air Asia would seem to be outweighed by the peace of mind. Of course, if you're flying in the night before, go ahead and use Air Asia. We actually always return to BKK two or more days ahead of our outbound flight. This removes any anxiety whatsoever.
