End of year trip planning - where to go?
My husband and I are looking to plan our end of year getaway. We are in our late 20's and both of us love city life and small towns, beaches, warm weather, history, and culture. We are thinking of 3 weeks, but not certain where to go. We've travelled a decent bit, so are running out of ideas that provide a bit of everything --- any suggestions?

Have you been to Thailand or Cambodia?
We just returned and my boyfriend said it was the best trip he has ever been on and we have both been to about 30 countries.
Are you specifically looking at Asia? If not, Turkey and Croatia are a couple of our favorite countries in Europe.

There are so mnay places in Asia that meet your criteria - Thailand, VN, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Indonesia... You might want to read some of the trip reports on this board to get a flavor for what interests you in this part of the world.

My favorite country is Burma, It has it all. I have not been to the beaches, but they look beautiful. If you have not been to Burma I recommend going while it is still not touristy. Also my son just returned from southern Loas and loved it.

Hi Taia - what's your definition of a "decent bit"? Could I be teaching a grandmother to suck eggs?
But anyway - how about Laos - but no beaches. Or Cambodia - there's Anghor and some fun journeys, and coast too - though I didn't have time to go.
Or Malaysia - both mainland and off-shore. Have you thought about Sabah?
Or there's always China.
Or some part of India you haven't seen yet - where have you been so far?
Or stuff Asia and go to Kenya.
