emergency question regarding flight to india without visa

I have a flight that leaves tomorrow at 10 pm for India from Detroit. I had a valid visa and passport but submitted a request for a new passport with my new married name in mid june. I have received the new passport with the new name however the old passport with the visa is missing in the postal system. Can I still fly to India tomorrow without the visa? I don't know what my options are at this point. Will they make turn around and fly back to US if I arrive in India and don't have the Visa?
Any recommendations on how I can successfully get there without a visa are greatly appreciated.

I seriously doubt you will be allowed on the flight without a visa.

If you received your original visa for India from Travisa, the agency that the Indian consulates contract with, they may have a record of your visa and may be willing to put it into your new passport. I would call them ASAP tomorrow. Another option would be to call the Indian consulate or embassy nearest you and discuss the matter with them.

In either case, even under the best circumstances, I doubt you can get it accomplished in time to take that flight.

Make sure you're all packed and ready to go tonight, in case you have to make a quick trip tomorrow to the Indian consulate or Travisa in Chicago. We were able to get same day visas there. Let us know what happens. Good luck!

I posted a reply to your question in the Lounge. You cannot go to India without a visa if you are a US passport holder. The airline won't let you board from the US in the first place without the visa.
