Elephant Nature Park - Chiang Mai

I spent three weeks here in March 2013 and will definitely be returning again soon! Unlike other elephant attractions, ENP is primarily concerned about the health and welfare of the elephants - no gimmicks, no circus tricks or painting and no trekking rides. The elephants at the park have mostly been rescued from street begging, the logging industry or trekking camps.
Whether you decide on a day visit, an overnight stay or to volunteer for a week; you will get to experience these gentle giants up close, washing them in the river, feeding them or watching them just being elephants.
I have seen many ads for camps that advertise riding on elephants as part of the experience, but after learning about the Phajaan or 'elephant crush' that these beautiful animals are subjected to, to satisfy a questionable tourism market, as well as using bull hooks to control the elephants, I know that it's not an activity I would ever support.
In a country where the elephant is an icon, it is not often traeted as such.
For the experience of a lifetime, make Elephant Nature Park, part of your vacation in Thailand ..... you will never forget it.

I kept a blog of my trip, in which you can read more about volunteering at ENP:

Yes, it's a fabulous spot!
Unfortunately, I cannot bring up all of your blog, but always love to hear about this special place. Thank you.

Hi, Changhomme,

Your site and experience look amazing! You've really made it clear why the Elephant Nature Park is so impressive.

However, like the above poster, the link for the ENP doesn't seem to work.
