Electrical wall plug adapters
 

Does anyone have experience with trying to use digital camera battery rechargers and US dual voltage hair dryers and in Yunnan province? What should the adapter plugs look like?

Deba, as no one has replied just a suggestion, if you re-post perhaps with a title " Yunnan China re-US plug adaptors" it will be seen by 'those who know' rkkwan will certainly spot it and know the answer! as others no doubt will.
Often posters 'skip down' the post titles so if you are specific it gets noticed by those who know those particular destinations.

Doesn't matter where in China. The most common plug is two round pins. It's not exactly the same as European ones (I think the diameter of the pins are slightly larger), but plugs for Europe will work.

Some hotels may also have the UK-type three square pegs, or some high-end places may have US-style 110V plug in the bathroom.

But the prevailing plug is the two round pins.

Wrong info there. Let me start again.

Okay. You'll see mainly two types of socket in China.

One <b>looks</b> similar to US ones with two parallel slots, but the two are the same length. If the plug of your recharger has even-length blades, they will fit. But if it has one that's slightly larger than the other, you'll need an adapter.

Another popular one you'll see is the Australia/NZ-style angled blades.

According to my parents, they see more and more the angled ones in hotel rooms, though most also have the parallel ones in the bathrooms inside your room. Convenient to get that Australia/NZ-style adapter.

Hair dryer options (unless you have some super deluxe model that you have to use):

1) find out if the hotel has hair dryers

2) buy one when you get to China.

You can buy adapter kits that have 4-5 different adapters for all over the world for around $10 US and they work. I bought a set at Target and used them in China &amp; Hong Kong with no problem. I've also seen them sold at airports but only in Australia. You can also buy them from travel catalogs.
