electrical adaptors for Thailand, Laos, Cambodia
 

What kind of adaptors will I need for Thailand, Laos, & Cambodia. I'll be taking charges for my iphone, iPad, and camera batteries? We're traveling from the USA.

Trying to make understand what I'm reading and the info is more confusing than for my trip to India!

For Thailand many of the outlets will take the Thai 2 pin plug as well as the US style bladed plug end. Verify that your chargers will take 220/230 volts, most will. In Thailand you can purchase a snap on adapter to make your plug end fit Thai outlets that may only allow pin plugs. These adapters can be found in some supermarkets in the hardware section, from some street vendors too. Of course hardware and electrical supply stores too. Supermarket price roughly 35-50 baht.

Anyone has a hair dryer or curling iron or something electrical check the voltage requirement. If only 110 volts you will fry it in a normal Thai outlet.

Thanks for this. I've been looking at my chargers, and they are all 110-240, so I don't need any converters. I do have the round 2-pin adaptors, so am I right in that I have everything that I need right now? What more might I need?

PS -- no hair dryers! Just phone, ipad and camera battery chargers -- not huge voltage needs.

Sometime a lot of the hotels here uses outlets that are different from the norm of the country. For example - some hotels in Thailand uses UK type three prongs outlets in the their rooms to deter the guests from using a lot of electricity.

Also, for US plugs the "blade" on one side is often bigger than the other which will not fit into a most wall outlets.

I always go with a handful of the 2 round-prong adapters. I have one of those universal plug things, similar to the link, but the only thing I ever need it for is my laptop that has a US 3-prong grounded plug. I've never had a problem with my 2-prong US plugs working in Thailand.
