electric plug
Going to India soon and will take my tablet for e-mails, photos etc.
Just realized that maybe I need to take some sort of adapter plugs as sockets and electricity are different. Worried I might damage the tablet if I use the wrong item to power it. Any help is appreciated. Thanks. |
Most modern electronics are dual-voltage, and are labeled as such. A simple plug adapter to fit the outlets where you are traveling is all you need, and will not hurt your tablet, etc.

Adapters just fit the outlet, they do not convert the power supply. Converters do that.
Your ipad, phone, computer, etc. should be dual voltage because we're in the 2010s and the various hardware manufacturers supply 100-240v power packs to power their machines. |
Thanks for your help Elberko and Big Russ.
You all are full of knowledge and experiences. Have a great evening. |
Get yourself one of these big boys:
https://www.amazon.com/Travel-Smart-.../dp/B006844EHM The purpose of the adapter shown above is to allow you to make one plug into a multiple. If your hotel room has a shortage of plugs, you just find the outlet closest to your bed, and plug all your devices in together. It's also useful in the airport lounges, so you can keep your devices charging right near your seat. Next, you need some of these guys: https://www.amazon.com/Ceptics-India.../dp/B007YLEQ58 These guys plug directly into the wall, and then you plug the Conair adapter into the wall plug. Got it? |

I would also suggest takling a small power strip. Something like this, you should be able to biuy locally for rather cheap:
http://www.amazon.in/GM-Indicator-Sh...ds=power+strip it increases the number of electric sockets you have. Most hotel rooms have too few, especially when you have to charege the tablets, cameras, laptops and phones together. When me and my wife travel together, double the devices :/ |
The Conair travel adapter that I mentioned in my April 19 post also increases the number of sockets. It is designed specifically for travel, and can easily put in your carry on luggage.
