Earthquake in Japan, Tsunami watch in Hawaii...

Just heard this on our news...Honolulu is under a tsunami watch due to 8.4 earthquake. No other info yet. I pray a quake that big didn't hit a city.

Oops, guess that was the teaser info...now they say the quake was about 330 miles from Japan. Any Tsunami will arrive here about midnight, and will arrive in Dutch harbor, Alaska about an hour earlier.

My husband is on a job project in the Aleutians, north of Dutch Harbor.. I talked to him tonight before news of the quake..
funny, there was a recent quake around Dutch Harbor a couple days ago around 1 a.m., and he didn't feel it.

Otfen, it is so windy out there that the buildings shake and you figure it is just the wind.

Having lived out there for many years, we were evacuated occasionally for tsunami watch if it was above a 7.0.

I was a young child during the 1964 Alaska quake which I remember to this day.. it was upgraded to a 9.2.~lots of devastation in coastal areas from tsunamis.

I will update when I learn more.. there is no cell service out there, only land lines, so I may not hear til late tonight or tomorrow morning. J.
