Driver from BKK to Cha-Am

We are interested in a day or 2-day road trip to Cha-Am from BKK. We don't need a guide but a knowledgeable driver (guide) would work for us. We are only interested in seeing this area, and will only stay overnight if the driving + sight-seeing time makes it necessary. Of course, we will include the driver's expenses if one day turns into longer.

Cha-Am won't be a major intent of our trip, but just a "day trip add-on."

Any suggestions? We have used Tong several times before, but since we are waiting until the last minute to plan, she is probably already booked. All ideas welcome!

Use Ratt - she trained Tong. Search this site for her email.

Hanuman had recommended a driver he has used recently on another thread asking about a driver to Hua Hin.

Warmest greetings to you, Sandra, and wonderful to 'see' you again on this early Thursday morning! (And if my memory serves correct, you have flown - and appreciated - Singapore Airlines, all the way from your relative home area of Houston to our fine home of Singapore (via SQ61 - and via Moscow - naturally. And, two cherished friends will be taking that flight, ex-IAH, in ~ 2 minutes).

Before offering humble Bangkok driver options, pleased to inform you and others that I had a most informative and enjoyable hands-on encounter with SIA's latest first, business, economy and inflight entertainment product enhancements last week at Changi. Initial roll-out will be on SQ's SIN-LHR sectors via B77Ws. Should you ever desire preferred seating and meal suggestions for all SQ classes, honoured to assist.

Now, Bangkok drivers, will leave that to the esteemed Hanuman. (And by the way Pook, thanks again for once (more than once..?!) flying your lovely family business class on SQ to our fine home of SIN - and staying at that cherished Four Seasons. Can't promise you any regular SQ A380 Suites, BKK-SIN, in future, but you'll always have at least SQ J, ex-BKK! Promise.)

Re: drivers, Sandra, have yet to experience the raptures of Ratt and Tong (most of my current and brief BKK business trips are way too busy for leisure day trips), but will suggest your favourite Bangkok hotel's drivers - and recommendations. Over the years of travelling to BKK for work, have met and become acquaintances with some extremely professional drivers for various properties, including my current work locale, the Four Seasons, as well as the Mandarin Oriental, The Siam, Peninsula, Shangri-La, Sheraton Grande, Sukhothai, Banyan Tree, Royal Orchid and St. Regis. These various gentleman are extremely entrepreneurial in the best possible way by offering their driving services on their days off - and on. My review of the Mandarin Oriental on my profile page briefly touches on the joy of making the reacquaintance of a truly knowledgable and gracious Thai MO driver and gentleman. Hope you find a special driver, Sandra.

Work beckons before flying back home to SIN tomorrow, so all for now, Sandra; warmest wishes to you and all - and savour your Thai planning,

macintosh (robert)

Sandra,

Here's the information for the driver that I have recommended to a couple of people here. Note that Peter is a taxi driver with a SUV type cab and not a tour guide like Ratt or Tong.
