Drive from PP To Angkor Wat

Anybody ever hire transport to drive? How long will it take? Any idea of the cost? Appreciate recommendations on a reliable company. Thought of doing the river cruise but thught it might be boring.

Forgot to ask - is there anything worth a quick peek along the way? Primary goal is to see Angkor Wat, but would not mine a short detour or stop.

Some people stop in Skuon to eat fried spiders... I preferred the temples at Sambor Prei Kuk, some of the oldest in the country and little visited.

Near Kompong Cham you could visit Wat Nokor and Wat Hanchey, and if you're feeling energetic you could climb Phnom Suntok after Skuon, but I thought Sambor Prei Kuk was the bezt of those sites.

Personally I found spiders over rated but the fried crickets were not too bad.) From memory the temples at Sambor Prei Kuk are pre-Angkorian. They are well worth a visit.

The very comfortable bus also stops for crickets. If you want to make any other stops as recommended above, you'll have to hire a car for about 5 times the cost of the $12 bus ticket.

Bus takes 5-6 hours, a car marginally less (plus stops) If you like the driver that picks you up from the PP airport on arrival, he'll be thrilled to take you; cut your deal on the way to the hotel.

If that doesn't work out, you can either arrange it at your hotel or get in touch with Thary Chan <[email protected]>

You're wise to not choose the river journey.
