I'm enjoying your stay at Phulbari... I was taken in by the photos on your site when I was reading about Kolkata.

Ahh, but that guy is the essence of California-ness, despite what you see in the movies. LSD popping school teachers who are totally under the radar. Rememeber, the number one crop in heavily agricultural California is....marijuana.

If my old convictions didn't make entry into the US of A so complicated, I'd fly straight to California, LA - the idea of the revolutionary in disguise intrigues me. Usually people feel a need to advertise their penchant for the dark side; wear the appropriate costume, color their hair neon, develop dreadlocks. John could have been a Boy Scout leader, a church guy, a Sunday School teacher.

Still waters...

Someday I hope you'll write about your California experience.
I can only imagine. But I'm sure all is forgiven.

I don't know if I'd call a doper a "revolutionary," but California has always been a laboratory for new ideas. The newest revolutionaries in disguise are the Silicon Valley types, billionaires disguised as homeless geeks in their tattered jeans and T-shirts. Though we are sort of falling into the sea right now politically and economically, so maybe that's gonna end.

Does anyone know what happened to the Dog? He's obviously dropped off the radar on Fodor's. Did he do a bad thing -- again?

His profile is still active - he hasn't been banned. Take a look at his website. I read a new story there about a month a go.
