Tomollo' - Dog meets Jayarvarman * |
Am so happy to have you back with a new story. Am in Paris staying with a couple I met going on a not quite cruise, but boatride from Saigong to Phnom Penh. The wine glass is in my hand, can hardly wait to read more.
A whole new cast of characters-hope they make for interesting material too.
The members of the Greek chorus are flung across the Globe. Here is another one, checking in from Boston. Look forward to setting sail on the Jayarvarman with Dogster.
checking in from the UK to see if there are any updates!
Waiting for more...
Excuse me for asking, dogster, but do you now see yourself as a VIP journalist?
Thanks Dogster, A nice little bit to send me off!!! I've got till tomorrow so maybe a bit more will come my way yet. I'll try and check in but depends on Wifi. May have to wait to read the rest but it will be something good to come home to.
Have a good trip, MaryW - I'll be interested to hear how Korea works out.
Of course Marija, I always have; it's just a shame the rest of the known world doesn't share my opinion. In fact, I see myself as a VVIPeePee.
If you'd just wait for the rest of the story, instead of taking the PP out of the VI, you may just discover a reason for that carefully placed bon mot. |
There will be a slight delay while I'm in transit. Having got the preliminaries out of the way, I may start a new post with the voyage proper. All will be revealed.
Have a great trip..... looking forward to your reports. Hope HL staff have a soft spot for Australian tourists when your finished with them!!!!!!!! ... Cheers
looking forward to the rest of the story...
Looking forward to the story as well. I was one of the brave souls accompanying the VIP journalist. Some fellow passengers recognized "dogster" as a celebrity. I was truly AT SEA on that one. Sorry, Dogster. I am clueless about celebrity...a level of existence which I can never hope to attain.
Our guide out of Saigon meant well at any rate. Working hard for the money. In retrospect, a seasoned "cruiser" would know to welcome the variety of characters aboard. This neophyte just enjoyed going along for the trip...wide-eyed and amused and often befuddled. |
Welcome aboard Fodors.com, ned. How did you like the Jayarvarman, even weighted down with self-anointed VIPs? Since it's a new boat many of us here are curious. Was the boat comfortable? Did you stop at interesting places? How was the food? Would you recommend it to your friends?
And don't worry about not recognizing dogster. You're not alone. Somewhere close to 7 billion other people don't recognize him either. |
You are devil spawn, Marija. lol lol lol.
And hello Ned. I'm not sure who you are but I'll bet you were one of the Australians. I'm delaying the start of the journey till I can write it properly. Chime in with your comments - that'll get Marija off my back. If I'd had my way, nobody on the boat would have known I was writing about it - however, as stated above, my cover was blown from the start so I was open about everything - which came back to bite me on my cadaverous bum. If the Evil One would allow me time to write the bloody thing, she might discover a degree of self-deprecation in my comments - still, that won't stop her taking the piss. She's eeeeevil, ned. |
take your time Dog,we will wait......
Dear me, the Greek Chorus seems to be getting unpopular. First I was the Devil, and now Marija is the Evil One. Aren't they usually thought to be the same person?
Welcome to Fodors, ned - another perspective on the boat ride would be very welcome! (Along with anything you care to share about the vip, of course.) |
Without the Greek Chorus, there would be no Dogster - they serve many functions:
to offer a sense of "rich spectacle",to provide time for scene changes, to give the main actors a break, to offer background information, to offer information about the main themes animating the action, to show an ideal audience's response, to act as a crowd, to tell of battles (battles, murders etc. were not allowed to be performed in greek theatre), to be a go-between from the audience to actors, to tell the audience of character's fear and secrets (what the actors couldn't say themselves)... An apt analogy, I think. If, on occasion, they need a playful smack, or a reminder of their demonic origins, that is all part of the drama. |
Very apt, Dogster.
Marija is evil, alright, but at least a funny little devil. And according to one Fodod, I am a West Coast know-it-all. There are many voices in the chorus. Yes, Ned, would love to hear your review of the cruise. |
