I have been thinking of him too. I miss his writings.

Never met the guy, but wish I would have before he passed.

I feel the same way, deptrai I started lurking on this forum a couple of years ago and found his posts remarkable, a wonderful blend of insight, humor and just plain great writing. This particular thread never ceases to move me.

We were fortunate that he gave so much of his astute observations, humor, and very great talent for writing to this forum.

Eleven years later and someone in the Lounge mentioned his name and story while providing a link. With one click, and a bit of time and curiosity, I was taken into the dirty streets of India and was introduced to a dilemma that happens on a daily basis. Dogster, the master fisherman of words, had me hooked until the end. I didn't want to think about the dilemma but wanted to know the solution. However, Dogster was clever and forced us to think of different scenerios and how each one would have an effect and outcome. After all, he did say "yes."

Thanks for reviving this thread. Dogster was my favorite poster.

We had the good fortune of seeing him once when we were on the Celebrity Constellation. We also met fellow fodorite sassafras and her hubby too. It was memorable to be sure.

We decided to meet at the martini bar nd I asked him how can I recognize you. He said picture Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones after a hard night drinking. :). Well a saw someone who fit that description standing by an elevator. we went there and I told my wife about going to the martini bar. On cue he said "are you jacket" :).

All I can say is he was charming, funny and more importantly we talked like old friends sharing things you usually don't do with people you just met. It just felt right.

I miss the man. :cry:.

BTW he was prominent in Australian theater, produced a show called "Tap Dogs" which went global and choreographed the an act in the opening ceremony of the Sydney Olympics. it was th one when hordes of ate dancers came down the aisles. He was truly talented.

He never wanted to have his real name revealed here but now it doesn't matter I suppose. Whenever we cruise I always hoist a martini to the sky for Nigel.

Have been away from Fodors for a while and this was a treat to come back to. Dogster was my travel hero.

I’ve just re-read this thread. Dogster really was a gem of a man and a great example of a very decent human.

I loved reading this again. He was so helpful when we planned our trip to India all those years ago. I loved his writing.
