Does my 2 week itinerary in Nepal look ok?

Hi guys,
I need help with my 2-week Nepal itinerary. Is this doable, too rushed, too slow...? I'm basically just looking for more cultural stuff than hiking, but I do want to check out the Poon Hill trek in Pokhara. I'm also fairly fit, 29 y/o, female traveling solo. It's also my first time to travel alone, if that makes a difference.

Also, if I could cut it to 10 days, that would be great. If not, I guess I can stick to my original 14-day trip. Thanks guys!

Day 0: Manila to Bangkok
Day 1. Bangkok to Kathmandu.
Day 2. Kathmandu – Thamel, Kathmandu Sqaure and Swayambunath
Day 3. Kathmandu – Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, Patan Durbar Square
Day 4. Kathmandu – Everest Flight, Bhaktapur
Day 5. Kathmandu - Asian Tole
Day 6. Kathmandu to Pokhara (flight)
Day 7. Pokhara Trek – early morning bus from pokhara to nayapul, trek to ghandruk
Day 8. Pokhara Trek – ghandruk to tadophani
Day 9. Pokhara Trek – tadophani to ghoropani
Day 10. Pokhara Trek –early rise from ghoropani, trek back to nayapul, evening bus to pokhara
Day 11. Pokhara to Kathmandu
Day 12. Kathmandu
Day 13 Kathmandu to Bangkok
Day 14: Bangkok to Manila

day 2 and 3 are packing quite a bit into a short time

We walked to Swayambunath from Thamel and then to Durbar Square. Took better part of a day. If you use a taxi you should easily do both. We stayed in Thamel, so we wandered around that area for the better part of a week. Pashupatinath, Boudhanath, and Patan Durbar Square are doable in a day, again with a taxi. I would go to Boudhanath first, and then Pashupatinath - two hours at each place seemed to be enough. Patan Durbar Square is fairly compact and again two hours might be enough.

The Everest flight may take most of a day. It is often foggy in the morning, so the first flight of the day often takes off in the afternoon rather than at 8 am. Subsequent flights are also, then, delayed. So I wouldn't try to schedule Bhaktapur and the Everest flight on the same day.

Patan Durbar square is my favorite. And there is a wonderful museum there in the old palace, often cited as being the best museum on the subcontinent. So your day 3 is pretty packed.

I'm not sure what you mean by "Asian Tole" on Day 5. Are you taking a class in Asian Tole?

You could cut your trip to 10 days by eliminating Pokara, but if you want to cover the places you've listed, you need at least two weeks.

Do not hike solo in Nepal. A Belgian woman was recently decapitated on a trail. Aubrey Sacco from Colorado is still missing. Please read:

Marija: Oh my goodness how awful! I feel so sorry for those trekkers. I'm not one to be swayed by negative reports on a place, as I think bad things can happen anywhere, but this is really making me think twice about going to Nepal now :( I've travelled on my own but only in my own country and I haven't had problems. I've never traveled in a foreign place, let alone gone trekking in a foreign place by myself, so I'm pretty apprehensive now. I will technically not be alone on my trek as I plan to hire a guide, but still. This is so awful and I feel so sad for their loved ones :( Thank you for warning me.

Thank you for your tips everyone. They have been really helpful and should I decide to push through with my trip, I will keep all your tips in mind. Maybe I'll just go to Nepal and just not go on a trek.

The trekking alone is a risk. But perhaps cut the trek and even Pokara, then you could do the trip in 10 days. Kathmandu is amazing. Click on my name to read my report on 8 days in Kathmandu.

Oh my goodness Kathie. I read your trip reports and have practically forgotten about Nepal - now I WANT TO GO TO BURMA! Your trip sounded so fantastic! May I email you or message you about it?

Thank you every one. Nepal will have to take a backseat to Burma and it's all Kathie's fault! :)
