Does Easter Sunday have impact in India…esp Udaipur or Jodhpur?

Hi,
Does Easter Sunday mean that things will be closed in India…or will there be hoards of tourists like in more Christian countries? Debating whether it's better to be in Jodhpur or Udaipur for that date.

There are very few Christians in India. There will be no impact on either destination.

Thanks Craig!

While there are, in most areas, few Christians in India, there are quite a lot in Goa and Kerala. Sunday in Goa can be very, very quiet.... But Rajasthan will be fine.

Thanks thursdaysd! We'll be in Kerala a week earlier so should be fine.

Easter Sunday should have no impact in northern India. You basically won't even know about it,
Southern India has more Christians, so there may be church services. But markets etc. remain open.

Just a small suggestion. On my last visit to Delhi, I happened to find beautiful paper mache eggs. Lovely designs and very inexpensive. I liked them so much that bought more than a dozen to use as little Easter gifts. I presented them to many people for several years. So, you may see some stuff like that anywhere in India.

ileen,
great idea! Do you remember where you found them?

Barefoot--if you ask at any shop about Easter eggs, they would not even know what you are talking about. For them, they are just a piece of art.

I bought mine at the Handicrafts Emporium in New Delhi. Most large cities have such craft shops where you can find really good quality artwork and traditional crafts too. So wherever you are in India, ask for a good Handicrafts Emporium.

Once in the large shop, look around, browse and see all the attractive things they sell. You might stumble upon something unique.

Paper mache is a popular craft from Kashmir and most often you will find boxes, trays, small tables and figurines. But maybe you might find the Easter eggs too. Of course, you will easily find Christmas ornaments. So keep your eyes open.

Have a wonderful trip especially enjoy the shopping as stuff is usually good quality and at very low prices.
