Does Asia Rooms etc allow points?

Just wondering if anyone knows whether I'll be able to claim Marriott points for a stay at Marriott Resort and Spa BKK booked, and pre paid through AsiaRooms. I'm guessing probably not, as I paid in advance to AsiaRooms and they have given me a voucher.
If anyone knows, it's someone on this board.

Absolutely, positively NOT. You can only claim points (and upgrades) by booking directly with the hotel's site. That's true of all of them.

michael is correct...

I thought as much, bummer. So Bob, all those nights each year at the Marriott and you don't get points?

I got points for what I charged(dinner, etc) but not for the hotel stay . It's not smart to charge things to your room as they will add the 17% or so tax to it as I found out when I checked out.

Aloha!

HT, it's my understanding that anything you do at the hotel (meals, spa, laundry) jas the 17% added to it whether or not you charge it to the room. SO you might as well get your points.

I feel better now :)

anything you charge and pay for at the hotel will receive points...

sue---sometimes i do marriott reservations...for instance this time i am doing a long term stay (14 or more days) and i get points for that...btw, its $95 per nite ++ including breakfast, and two way airport transfers....with the way the price has risen this year that is a real bargain...net i figure it to be about $65 per nite which equals the lowest price i ever paid way back...i thrilled and points on top of that!!!

Gosh Bob, I consider myself a Marriott and Am Airlines points queen, but did not know anything about getting better all inclusive rates for stays of 2 weeks or more. You got a truly fantastic deal and, points on top.
Do you have to call Marriott direct to get the room plus breakfast for 14 plus days deal?

sue---i have seen it on the website, but i sent the hotel an e mail directly and asked what the rate would be...

do you have a marriott visa card?? great deal too...go to the marriott site and there is always an ad for it...now i think you get a free room for one nite too and 15,000 points too...free for first year also...

SueHuml Oct 5th, 2006 10:13 AM

Yes I already have the VISA Marriott Card, have had it for several years. The new deal is better though than the one I have and they will not allow you to switch to the more expensive one to get the free night and the extra bonus points, its for new sign ons only.

Also, because the Marriott VISA charges an extra 3% on foriegn transations, I will not even use that card to pay for anything in Thailand as it's not worth an extra 3% just for points.

almost all cards charge 2-3% now...

you can apply for an additional card or a joint card or a single card...they don't seem to care and i need the points so i do it frequently and just close the old one...
