DMa Pavilion Hotel Bangkok???
I am planning a trip to Bangkok with my daughter in early April. Both Travelocity and Expedia have packages that include airfare from SFO, nine nights hotel, taxes, and breakfasts at the DMa Pavilion Hotel for under $950 each. Does anyone know anything about this hotel? Is the area safe for two women? Are the rooms clean? We plan to spend our time sightseeing and shopping. We do not need a four or five star hotel. Our main concern is clean and safe.

This is a good economy type hotel with a nice lobby, clean but basic furnished rooms, small pool and so so restaurant. The only drawback is the location, a good 15 minute walk to the nearest skytrain station and shopping at the World Trade Centre (now called the Central World Plaza) and Siam Square areas. It is quite safe to walk in this area but watch the heat. The rate for a superior room (including taxes/service charge/breakfast) is 1350 baht-$34us so the package you are getting is not bad.

take a look at some of the airline packages, like northwest and united that include hotels...
i really would want to be nearer to the skytrain or easy access to it... i'm paying $1212 from boston in may with 3 nites hotel and transfers... also look at asian carriers, like thai, all nippon, eva, japan...i am no longer a fan of expedia or travelocity... |
i jsut read about it and it seems ok honestly...reviews say it is in a good location although somewhat removed...built in '97 so that is a good sign...built as a group destination i am gathering...all of the reviews were by asians or europeans...no americans---what ever that means...???
the cheapes airfare i have seen this year has been about $700 so this is good....rooms are under $40 on the discount sites... overall...not a fabulous hotel and not a bad one either... |
Thank you for your help. It seems like the hotel would be worth a try for my daughter and me. Next trip, however, I will be with my husband and we will definitely stay at the Marriott on the river!
|
judy---i can guarantee that you will see a huge difference if you later stay at the marriott...
|
Don't go home the Bridesmaid when you so could easily go home the bride...
Bangkok is one of the travel bargains of the world and for literally a few dollars more per night you could upgrade from a reasonable hotel to an absolute gem. |
walter is correct...a few more dollars can often move you from an ordinary place to a wonderful place...i myself would eat a mcdonalds once per day to allow me the move to a place like the marriott and its on the river which makes all the difference in the world

Or we could use the money we save for shopping...
|
judy you know you will do the shopping anyways so go for the better hotel as a secret treat to yourselves....or you could look at it this way: i will check it out to see if it is up to my husbands standards....if not, i would not want to subject him to it...
