Discount Booking Site Agoda

Does anyone have experience booking hotels in asia with a site called Agoda?
I've used many on line discount booking sites but the rates quoted on Agoda look too good to be true. The rates are non refundable which would account for a discount but I'm curious if anyone has anything to report.
Thanks.

I've also used them with no problems. You'll find lots of posts here from people who have used them.

Very good site but refunds ( if allowed) can be difficult but their rates are very good . Go for it!

Agoda's information, room descriptions and reviews are very useful. It is probably the top hotel search resource for Asia in my opinion. Note that it is owned by the Priceline corporation; info on that at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agoda

it is not just asia but worldwide

I've used Agoda for years without any problems. Note that whether or not the rates are refundable depends on the hotel. Most of the deals offered by Agoda are refundable (with a small fee), but if the hotel is giving them a special discount on a non-refundable rate, then of course they have to pass that on to the consumer. There was once complaint here a while back from someone who didn't realize that the terms offered by Agoda varied from one hotel to another. You have to remember to always read the fine print!

Hi there
My friend have been try to deal with that about more a year ago, yeah on site quotation sheet are look very good compare to other providers, but i think that is just net price, finally plus, 10% VAT tax, 5 percentage of service charge, turn out not good to be true hihi, since and then they actually careful trying it out, have fun...

We have used them to book probably 15 hotels in Asia over the past 11-12 years and never had a problem. In fact just recently for an upcoming trip I booked The Chedi Club in Bali and by accident made it for 1 too many days on a non-refundable price set by The Chedi. Adoga who was booking 3 other hotels on this upcoming trip went to bat for me and got me the extra night refunded. You cannot ask for better service.

vietvision is a travel agent, so doesn't want you to use agoda. The site always states clearly whether tax and service is included in the price (it usually is) and there is no added service charge.

As Kathie said, it's very clear what the bottom line price is. Have you ever booked a hotel with agoda, vietvisiontravel, or are you just sowing doubt and despondency?

lanphuong Jul 29th, 2011 01:27 AM

in fact, all hotel reservation website should have same price.
Agoda shows you price which is exclusive VAT and service charge but when you click on book, price is same on another website.

Kathie Jul 29th, 2011 06:40 AM

Of course, different websites have different prices. I've had good luck with agoda, but it isn't always the lowest price. Do shop for best price.

lanphoung is another VN agent who doesn't want you to use agoda or other booking sites.

I've used them too. Never a problem.

I don't like that Agoda never gives you the total price when you book. They just give you the price per night and the taxes so you have to figure the total by yourself. It's not hard but I don't know why they do it this way.
