Disappearing threads

Is it only happening to me? I have posted on a couple of threads this morning on information about Japan and no threads in sight now........strange

rhkkmk Jul 25th, 2009 04:20 PM

perhaps they are in review.... i did read that anything that was posted from HI would have to be reviewed by the senior random house editor before it could be posted...that may be the problem

Hanuman Jul 25th, 2009 04:25 PM

It has happened to me too in the past. Some threads I post on I expect them to disappear, usually in response to KW or VB, but there has been some very "clean" threads that just vanished.

Kathie Jul 25th, 2009 04:45 PM

I've not had any threads disappear, but I have had perfectly fine posts disappear.

Gpanda Jul 25th, 2009 06:27 PM

I've had a few threads disappear. I just assumed it was the normal anti-panda sentiment.

dogster Jul 25th, 2009 07:11 PM

I can make posts disappear.

Just by passing comment about Mr. ChiNaH. Vro-o-oph! Gone in an instant. I can't think why.

If someone called me curmudgeonly I'd congratulate them - for their accuracy AND ability to use words of more than two syllables - not have their posts deleted.

panda, why do You still associate with the riff raff? Is it pity?

Dogster, wish we could start from the beginning......Kissy,kissy......Lol

rhkkmk Jul 26th, 2009 01:51 PM

i'll take 'linder' any day but not you...

hawaiiantraveler Jul 26th, 2009 04:56 PM

Lol,that is what I would do

hawaiiantraveler Jul 26th, 2009 04:58 PM

Btw, the threads have not reappeared

Kathie Jul 26th, 2009 05:00 PM

HT, why not write to Katie and ask?

Katie_H Jul 26th, 2009 05:13 PM

Hi HT--I can check on this with our developer tomorrow; it's definitely not due to moderation on our end...most likely work was being done on the database and something didn't click (I know, I know...not a very technical way of describing or guessing about the problem).

Any chance that you remember which topics you might have posted on? Or maybe around what time you made the posts? Generally it's helpful to isolate the window of time it happened. Have other posts successfully gone up that you've posted today?

lcuy Jul 26th, 2009 05:44 PM

Katie, you met HT...Why in the world would you want to post anything he writes??? He never goes anywhere intereseting.

Only kidding!! I love HT, and our GTGs are always better when He and Linda are there!

hawaiiantraveler Jul 26th, 2009 06:04 PM

Katie, It was Saturday morning about 6:00am Hawaii time. One of the threads was asking for recos on hotels in Singapore and Tokyo. I can't remember exactly what the other was but it had to do with someone looking for inexpensive lodging in Tokyo. No big deal, just found it strange

Aloha!

Katie_H Jul 27th, 2009 07:47 AM

Great--I've relayed this to our tech staff; I'll let you know what I find out. If this happens to anyone else, please let us know; you can reach me at [email protected].

easytraveler Jul 27th, 2009 07:57 AM

Aha! I know where to find those bamboo with razor blades...!

easytraveler Jul 27th, 2009 08:32 AM

Well, how did that happen????

Where's the rest of my post?

What happened to "I'm off to look under the Fodors' computer room?"

Gpanda Jul 27th, 2009 08:34 AM

Katie- I had a post about the upcoming NY mini-GTG that disappeared on 8/14 or 8/15. It had about six or seven posts.

NoFlyZone Jul 27th, 2009 12:42 PM

The NY Mini GTG thread is showing for me at http://www.fodors.com/community/asia/nyc-mini-gtg.cfm

Gpanda Jul 27th, 2009 01:14 PM

NoFlyZone-the disappearing thread was one I posted prior tro the NYC Mini-GTG. It vanished after a short shelf life. It's purpose was to inform any NYCers of the upcoming events and allow them to attend. At the time, I assumed it was a content driven vanishing. Now, it seems to be one of several. The actual trip report about the GTG has survived, much to beth's dismay.
