Direct flight or connecting?

Direct flight or connecting?
Which do you prefer? I'm visiting Asia for the first time in May, so far the longest flight I've ever been on was about nine hours. Do you prefer nonstops, or flights with one or two stops so you can get out and stretch your legs?

We recently flew Singapore Airlines non-stop from New York (Newark) to Singapore... and at 18 hours, it felt like the shortest flight I've ever taken...
The seats were more comfortable than standard US-Europe flights or NY-CA flights... also, there is the on-demand entertainment which is a big plus. Also, there was an area in hte back of the plane designated for passenger socializing, and had a small snack bar in case you wanted any food/drink at non meal/snack times - so you could stand around there for 1/2 hour or more if you wanted...
I would take that flight again with no questions asked...

Non stop - less total travel time.
We just returned from Japan. I got that great spring deal on American Airlines. Their long flight jets are 777's which are huge. We had the on demand entertainment, but no social area. We flew Chicago to Tokyo (aout 15 hours there and 12.5 back). I was dreading it and it wasn't bad at all.
I originally wanted to fly JAL, but a savings of nearly $400 a person changed my mind. I am very happy we didn't spend the extra money.

We just came back from our first trip to SEA. The non-stop from JFK to BKK was the longest trip I'd ever taken - 17 hrs., but between the many movie selections, meals, napping, etc., it didn't feel that bad, and we were in economy. I can't imagine making the trip longer by having to get off and back on again. I'd only do non-stop if available.

Add another vote for non-stops! When I travel from the US to Asia, I want to get there asap and ditto coming home since most flights are 12+ hours. I can stretch my legs on the plane (and you should get up and walk around every few hours on long flights anyway).

I'm a real "direct flight" kind of person. Always feel the worst part about travel is the stop and go. Personally I'd rather suck it up and just get there instead of stops and go especailly with going in and out of security check points. Very time consuming and tiring. Fly driect.
