Dilmah Tea - tours available?

Hi All,

Corny question, I know, but has anyone done a tour of the famous Dilmah tea plantations and factory? Is one even available or are they closed to the public?

Thanks in advance

From what I understand Dilmah buys tea from plantations in several regions of th country, one of them being Norwood Tea Factory in Bogawantalawa. I was able to visit this factory as a guest of Tea Trails, staying in one of the plantation bungalows.

As Femi said, if you stay at Tea Trails, you are staying amid tea fields used in Dilmah Tea. If you stay at Tea Trails, a guided tour of the Norwood Tea factory is included in your stay. If you are not staying at Tea Trails, I expect you could contact them and arrange a tour of the tea factory.

Femi, did you bring home lots of Dilmah Tea? We have to go back so we can stock up again!

I did bring home tea, and also discovered (thans to Air France) a new brand that I just love- Fauchon. My particular favorite is Tea for Two which has little rosebuds in it. I did feel a little guilty that it's not a Sri Lankan brand, but tell myself that it very well might have Sri Lankan origins!

I haven't looked at tea in quite the same way since I got returned from Sri Lanka.

I am also very enamored with tea tourism. To this end, if you are good, as a celebration of all things tea, I will show you my secret tea file.

Thanks for the link, those pictures are a poignant reminder. Although I never gave it much thought before, I am amazed by the lengths we will go for tea. Still very big business

There is something addictive about tea tourism, isn't there? We will be returning to Sri Lanka and Assam is still on our list....

hi, as already noted by Femi, we offer a Tea Experience fields and factory tour for guests at Dilmah's Ceylon Tea Trails resort www.teatrails.com in the heart of Ceylon tea country. We would be happy to also show visitors around the Dilmah tea packaging plant near Colombo. Dilmah offers a 4 day School of Tea for those wanting an in-depth Tea Experience. Please email [email protected] for more info.

This is the first time I've heard of the School of Tea. Is it new?
