Difficulty making Reservations online with Thai Airlines

I've been trying for several days to reserve seats on Thai Airlines from BKK to Ubon Ratchathani in Thailand. First of all I see flights leave from either Don Mueang or Suvarnabhumi airports. Is any particular airport more convenient than the other? Secondly, I cannot get thru to make reservations online? I've tried to register thru Royal e-booking but no luck either. I wonder if I might be risking too much to wait till I get to Bangkok to reserve. I'd like to take the mid-morning flight, but not sure if this is a frequently traveled route.

Note that all flights to Ubon Ratchathani now fly out of the old airport Don Mueang. If you try to book out of Suvarnabhumi it comes up as an error. This may be why you are having troubles.

I agree with scotters, when you go to the main website, a little down on the right where it says 'International - Domestic - Schedules - Flight Info ' click on 'Domestic'.
Then put in flights From Don Mueang (DMK) and that should work. ( Still can't get used to it not being Don Muang )

Actually, I don't think the Ubon flight is operated by Thai. That may contribute to online booking problems.

I just went through the process up to the point where you pay with no trouble at all. I had three flights between DMG and Ubon, no problem. I am a Royal e-booking member though..it asks you to log in. I didn't see a mid-morning flight...only 6:00, 13:25, and 17:05 departures.

The Ubon flight IS operated by Thai out of Don Mueng - I just flew it 2 days ago!

Other flight options is Air Asia out of Suvarnaphumi.

There's a rumour that Nok Air wat to take over this route but we'll have to wait for that.

Forgot to mention that if you wait until you're in Thailand and call the Thai Airways call centre(tel = 023561111) and specifically ask them which flight offer the lowest rate (non changeable and refundable) you can get rates as low as 1,550 baht per way including tax.

there is definitely something wrong with this website. I've registered as ERoyal or RoyalE booking, but the website hangs in space. may have to just call when i get to Bangkok. Tried a different pc, but still website is slower than molasses and hangs. Thanks for your suggestions though

Thought I'd let it be known. There was no problem with the website, my computers must not have been powerful enough because I tried to book on a friends computer and flew right thru the process. Actually, I'm holding and waiting to see if by chance I can get the lower fare when in Bangkok. Thanks for all the help. Yes, I did have to be registered thru the ebooking system.

I leave in the next few days and am pretty excited, just bummed I don't have more days in either BKK or LP. Will be taking the river cruise and will let everyone know if it was worth the extra bucks and extra travel and time away from the two cities I wanted to spend more time on.

Your problems could be related to the browser you're using. I tried to make reservations on the Thai Airlines site using FireFox and had the same issues you describe. As soon as I tried again using Explorer it worked fine.
