Dharamsala / McLeod Ganj in February

Anyone have any first-hand knowledge of the weather in Dharamsala/McLeod Ganj in February?

I'm looking at an itinerary that will have us flying from Delhi around February 13 and 3 days later driving to Amritsar.

Wondering what to expect and if we're crazy to try at this time of year.

Thanks!

I've been there in late May whan it was in the low 80's. My good friend was there in early March and had snow and ice. Said the drive up and down the mountain were very scary, but at the bottom (near the airport) it was quite warm and dry. As the drive was a nailbiter enen in May, i don't think I'd go there if there was any chance of icy roads!

We met people in McLeond Ganj who were stranded there for three days because the morning fog prevented their plane's departure. This was in early June--duno what it's like in Feb. I think the flights are rare, maybe not even daily, so if you miss one, you're SOOL til the next day, which means paying for another round trip drive to the airport next day.
Another idea, kmd, is to take morning Shatabdi "express" train from New Delhi to Amritsar, spend the time you want there, then drive up to McLo .

Early February could be wet in Dharamsala. The highest points above Mcleodganj, Bhagsu, Triund and Naddi could experience snowfall making roads slippery.
Lower Dharamsala should be fine.
Happy travels!
