Dev Vilas in Ranthambhore
 

We are planning a visit to India in March 09. In Ranthambhore I made reservations at Dev Vilas as they were a more reasonable (price-wise) alternative to some of the other lodgings. The accommodations looked fine on the web and are recommended by Frommer's (sorry Fodor)
Has anyone stayed there or has any other helpful (good or bad) information about Dev Vilas?

I have visited the property a few months back, while staying at Khem Villas. The rooms are fine, well furnished, with very clean toilets. The suites have nice views. You could ask for a softer pillow. It has a swimming pool which is an asset in the month of March. The staff was very polite. But on the whole I would say the property lacks 'character'. I was not happy with the restaurant, though. It is a fairly new property & therefore lacks green cover, which is essential in bright sunshine.

Thank you for yor evaluation. I realize it is not the best property in the area, but the price is right. As long as it is not "terrible" - then it would not matter how good a deal it was. From your description it is acceptable to me.

Dev Vilas is also very good hotel and very famous among US people.

Dev Vilas is a fine property and great value..the owner, Balendu, is an expert wildlifer and if you stay there, pick his brains.
