Delhi Airport Hotel Recommendation
I am changing planes in Delhi on my way to Bhutan in October and need a single night in a hotel near the Delhi airport. Something clean, safe and convenient, but I don't need fancy. FYI - I'm a woman traveling alone.
Any suggestions? |
The brand new terminal at the Indira Gandhi International airport is supposed to have a hotel within.
|
Apparently it isn't open yet, as I can't find any information about it.

We stayed a few nights at Uppal's Orchid Hotel in Jan/Feb...a nice hotel, beautiful grounds to walk in, and very close to the airport.
If you're on a tourist visa and returning to India within 2 months of leaving it, make sure before you leave your home country you have the appropriate paperwork to reenter. It can be a nightmare if you don't. |
I also stayed at Uppal's Orchid and liked it very much. It's a little green oasis only a couple of miles from the airport. Plus, it's very clean, not one of the huge mulitstoried hotels, and on the upscale side. They provided transfer to and from the airport on both days. Just make sure you have an Indian visa to leave the airport.

How much tine will you actually be in hotel, i.e what are flight arrival time, then next day departure?
We checked into airport nr hotel ta 10:30 pm, and had to leave the next morning at 5:30 a.m. So. depending on arrival time, anice outdoor setting (ie Orchid, Radisson), swimming pool, etc may not matter or be worth the price, for only limited hours' use. I found that none of the nearby hotels had partial-day use fees. For our purpose, Hotel Saptagiri was fine. We are two women, mother and daughter, and felt perfectly safe in the hotel. We had to-the-door help into the lobby and check-in from our driver and tour agency representative both coming and going. It is in a street with other , cheaper hotels and no charm, so is good for room purpose only For that, it was fine, and cost much less than Radisson or Uppals' ORchid. I'd have preferred staying in one of these, but for our needs---hot shower, pack luggage, clean room, and sleep for 4 hours on comfortable bed--i couldnt see spending almost $200. |
