Day Trips

I have contacted several tour companies who have quoted me prices for day trips in the Golden Triangle Area from the Anantara, do you think it is advisable to haggle with them over the price for 4 of us ?

rhkkmk Jan 17th, 2006 07:00 PM

no...they have their price...if they reduce it you may get a reduced tour...

i would rent your own car....there is no need to have a guide up there....the area is very simple..

John, I'm interested in who you contacted and what you found as we are doing the same thing. Thanks.

So far I have been exchanging emails with track-of-the-tiger and Asiativ also a company who will supply a driver and van for 62 dollars plus petrol cost.

How are you getting on who have you contacted.

These companies seem to be cheaper than the hotel.

What dates are you there ?

CFW Jan 18th, 2006 06:13 PM

We'll be at the Anantara starting Feb 6 for 3 nights. We've been e-mailing with People in Touch as recommended by one of the posters on this sight. The cost is about 1800 Baht per person.

What do you get for 1800, where are they taking you to ?

Are entrance fees included ?

How many of you are there?

Have they got a web site or can I have their email address please.

CFW Jan 19th, 2006 01:54 AM

John, The e-mail address is [email protected]. There are two of us, and we're going to Doi Tung and Mae Sai. We haven't worried about entrance fees or lunch because those are really so inexpensive in Thailand. They are willing to tailor the day to see and do whatever we want in the area. What made this worthwhile for us is that they also had a good price for picking us up at the airport in Chiang Rai and driving us to the Anantara (500 Baht)on the night we arrive. When are you going to be at the Anantara?

Thanks for info, we arrive on the 11th for four nights, our tour operator has provided transport from the airport to the hotel.

If you can get to a computer please let us know on this thread how you get on.

John
