Davis vs. Centre Point Silom hotel?
 

Trying to decide between The Davis and the Centre Point Silom. I have neck problems and the pillows and bedding quality is what I'm interested in.

If anyone has stayed at either or recommends another that would be great!

Stayed at the Davis last Friday, and they had very good (and new) bedding; quite comfortable for wife & me. Also good service, so would expect they could switch out pillows if you asked ... many of the good hotels have a variety from which you can choose - if you just ask to do so!

Note location is quite a ways down Soi 24, not an easy walk to Sukhumvit. If you do any walking around, be careful. A police captain warned me that some recent incidents of mugging have been much more violent than in the past.

Not familiar with Centre Point Silom, so can't offer advice on that one.

Centre Point, there are a number of them in Bangkok, are serviced apartments rather than a hotel. I am not familiar with the Silom one, but the Sukhumvit one is very pleasant and reasonably priced for an extended stay.

The only downside that I can see is that they are not really geared up to assist tourists, the up side is that you get an apartment instead of a room.

The Centre Point Silom is our hotel of choice in Bangkok. Can't really address the bedding issues, but never had a problem myself. Large, comfortable beds, lots of pillows. (Maybe you want to take a travel pillow with you?)

We've found the desk staff to be of as much assistance as required on tourist matters, and the location is terrific (as is the price).

Both for location and price the Centre Point Silom beats the new Davis in my opinion. Located close to the Shangri La hotel near the river, a few minutes walk to the skytrain and river ferries and on top of a Robinsob department store which has a decent food court. For the price of a room at the Davis (3500 baht) you can get a large one bedroom suite (3300 baht, taxes/service charge/breakfast included)that has a large living room, master bedroom (king size bed), nicely appointed bathroom with tub and shower, kitchen, washer/dryer combo, walk-in closet and balconies with a river view. A large studio with river view is around 2700 baht.

There's also a pool and workout room, and Robinson's has a supermarket in the basement if you want to buy a few things for the kitchen.

Thank you very much for your assistance with this... I was looking at the Sofitel Silom hotel as well. This is my first time to Bangkok and I do travel with my own pillows just like a nice bed for the value.

Try The Conrad on Wireless Road. They have a "pillow menu" with approx. 10 differrent types so you should find something to suit.
