Date change of Vietnam Visa

I will be calling the Vietnam consulate in San Francisco tomorrow (they are closed today) to extend our departure date. I put down June 6 but after reading all the good things here on the Fodor's board, we would like to stay longer. I will explain this but would like some input here to see if this would be a problem. I don't want to re-apply for the visa.

Sorry, I should explain I sent the application off on Thursday last, and they recieved it Friday and I should be getting it back (hopefully) Wednesday. They are also closed Thursday and Friday. (Vietnam holidays).

No matter what you said on your application, your visa is good for 30 days from your entry date. Remember that you CANNOT enter VN before the entry date you specified. As long as your entry date is ok, you don't need to worry about your departure date as long as it is no longer than 30 days after your entry date.

Hi Kathie. Thank you so much for your expertise. My visa arrived and you are right, it is for 30 days. We have reservations at the De Sylola Hotel. Will stay there for 5 days and then on to Halong Bay. Would like to see Danang
if possible. (My dad flew there in the "American War". Will try flying on
Vietnam Airlines to Ho Chi Minh if possible. We will have to fly back to Hanoi to catch our departing flight.

Have a wonderful time in Vietnam. I liked the DeSyloia, and the staff there were wonderful. The restaurant there, CauCau, is also very good.
