D & D Backpackers Bangkok
Anyone have information on D&D Backpackers in Bangkok? I'm doing some research for my niece and nephew, both in their 20's, traveling to Asia in May. Any other recommendations for accomodations in Bangkok would be appreciated.
Thank you, Travelottie |
Let me recommend that they take alook at the Lonely planet board called thorntree. There are literally hundreds of inexpensive guesthouses in Bangkok.

A quick look on the internet for some combination of : cheap/budget/accommodation/hotels in Bangkok will bring up hundreds of them. It's only a matter of deciding what you want to pay and where you want to stay.
A lot of backpackers stay around Khao San Road which is generally aimed at backpackers with cheaper end accomodation, shops, a market, restautrants, etc. Air conditioning is a definite bonus in such a hot and sticky place. |
A couple of places that are both nice and inexpensive are Suk 11 and New Siam 2 (there are other New Siam's..I think 4 of them...that are equally nice and under the same management).

Thank you for responding - I will pass this information along. |
Is New Siam II the New Siam that's close to the main road with bars etc?
|
Probably. Both New Siam I (stayed there many times)and NS II are a stone's throw from Phra-a-thit Rd. NS One doesn't have a bar though you can still buy a beer there.
Here's the website. http://www.newsiam.net/ Cheers. |
New Siam is not making reservations for end of November yet. They only reserve up until 3 months in advance. So, I just booked a private room at Suk 11 with a bathroom. Will definitely report back, though from everyone's comments here, seems like it was a good way to go. :)
