Current Cost for Visa on Arrival in Lao
Anyone gotten a visa on arrival in Lao in the last could months? I'm seeing different prices when I google around. If we get the visa from the Embassy now its $50. Thanks!

UK - citizens in baht - 1500!!
You can get a visa on arrival in Laos if you are traveling for tourism, have two passport-size photographs and pay $35
can you do this at border crossings as well as at airports?
Some land crossings do allow you to purchase a visa on arrival, some do not.
Oops - I hit post too soon. The Friendship bridge crossing from Thailand does allow visa on arrival.
We got Visas on arrival wken crossing from Kratie, Cambodia and Chiang Saen in N Thailand. NB small bribes often required at land crossings!
Paying in Baht is silly as the exchange rate is poor. Pay in USD - $35.00 for Americans and most, $30.00 for Australians, $42 for Canadians, and free for Swiss.
Plus $1 for "service" or so the sign in LP says.... :)
you will save about 400 baht paying in US dollars....if you have them.
costs in dollars....... Australia 30 Canada 42 China 20 India 40 Sweden 31 USA 35 UK 35 Others 30 There are different rules for ASEAN countries........ |
Ya, I found $35 for US citizens, plus make sure you have 2 passport photos on arrival
And if you are arriving by plane ask them for ALL the forms on the plane. That way you can fill them in prior to arriving and save some time. ( most people didn't do this on our flight - especially as the attendants didn't actually offer the visa form up they just handed out the immigration ones but I asked them if they had a visa for, which they did)
Cost yesterday was $35 usd + $1 "service charge". We brought completed forms downloaded from internet. took maybe 10 minutes to get thru immigration.

Glad your travel skills are still intact, yestravel. Looking forward to more reports - and wishing you good luck on Friday the 13th !
yestravel, I forgot to thank you last night for the tip on printing off the visa form in advance and having it completed when we arrived! We did that before we left Siem Reap and it saved us a little time on arrival.
