Current best hotel resv on internet?

Hi, I am in Indonesia for two wks in Feb., & wonder what Asian hotel res. website is currently most attractive. I used to use Asiahotels and I see some others, but would like any suggestions you have. I am older, and not a high-end, nor low-end, altho of course, in circumstances I do both. I stayed a few nights in Bali for $3.50 night and was perfectly happy altho, dang, there was no pool, orchestra, internet & the wake-up call was the family rooster.

This is a point that can cause some arguments here!

Personally, I use what is now known as Agoda.com (used to be Precision Reservations, and before that, Planet Holiday). I've been using them for years and never had a serious problem, other than full hotels. They usually have competitive rates to all the others, but when considering a branded hotel (Accor is very big in Indonesia) I usually check around to see if the chain's site has a better rate.

When comparing rates, make sure you compare the same thing. Some sites show the rate including taxes, some exclude it. Some include breakfast, some don't.

I have used sawadee.com on 2 trips to a total of 7 destinations in Thailand and Malaysia. While they are not always the least expensive you only are required to put down 1 nights deposit (generally non-refundable) but covered by your trip insurance for illness. The balance is not due until 3 weeks before arrival at that destination.
I used asiahotels.com once on short notice in Malaysia and had to pay the 2 nights upfront but we were already in Asia so I was not concerned. But, if you are planning 3-6 months in advance do you want to pay all now as many of the reservation sites require.
