Crystal Clear Water in the West Thai Islands

Now that I have chosen the western islands for my honeymoon in July, is there an island that has the idyllic crystal clear water?

I know the movie, "The Beach" was filmed in Pho Li Li, but I want that once in a lifetims look of that beautiful clear water and sandy white beaches. Is there an island on the west side that is best for that idyllic beach?

Any info would be much apprecited!

what kind of accomodations do you require....that might be the best way to start...

quite honestly i don't find the beaches to be fantastic....they are not like the carribbean or new england....the sand tends to be coarse and slightly brown...

depending on sea conditions water can be somewhat clear to cloudy

Bob, look at her other post - this is for a honeymoon and they are looking for luxe. Because the honeymoon is in July, they need to look on the Gulf of Thailand side as they would be bummed by rain.

By the way, MrsGibbons, Bob thinks none of the SE Asia beaches compare to New England beaches.

i looked again this year when we were on no less than 10+ different thai beaches and none of them compare to the average american beach...

they tend not to be clean....the sand tends to be mixed with dirt or clay....some of the hotel beaches are nicer as they have imported sand but it tends to be mounded up in an artificial way...surf is often very rough and downright unsafe even for excellent/strong swimmers...

i'm just an old crank....but i don't want you to be disappointed with what you find...

Seas are choppy and cloudy on the Andaman side in July - that's why the best dive sites are closed for the season. If you want clear water, you'll want to be around Samui.

There are powdery white sand beaches all over Thailand, but they're a secret.

only hanuman knows the beaches with this type of sand...

Crystal Bay has this kind of sand, but it isn't a delux resort on Samui. NICE, but not delux. No pool, just a lovely quiet beach.

Yes, MrsGibbons, there is!

Absolutely crystal clear water, beautiful white, powdery, sandy beaches and more than a little feeling of paradise.

Some pics on link below. Some were taken during the month of July.
