credit cards that dont charge ATM/international transaction fees?

Until recently, my capital one visa card did not charge fees for ATM transactions. I now have international transaction fees that quickly add up. Does anyone know of cards that dont have these fees? we are travelling to Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Thailand. Thank you!

Check with your brokerage - many brokerage accounts not only don't charge, they also refund fees you pay to the local bank. I have an E*Trade account that does this, and they only charge the visa/mastercard premium of 1%. My own bank, US Bank does not charge me for use of foreign machines, but they still charge the usual 3% premium.

Also check with credit unions. They often have no charge for use of foreign ATMs.

Take a look at all of the fees before you decide: What does your bank charge you to use a foreign ATM? Many major banks in the US charge $5 each time you use a foreign cash machine plus a 3% foreign exchange premium. And you would pay any charges that the foreign bank charges.

Can't find a bank card you like? Consider carrying cash - crisp $100 bills of the newest type bring the best exchange rate.

Since when did Capitalone start charging foreign transaction fees - I have one of their cc's plus I opened an online savings so I could use ATMs.....when I opened that account in the winter I was assured there were no foreign transaction fees....haven't used them recently though.....

I have a Capital One Venture card which does not charge foreign transaction fees for credit card charges.
My bank had an ATM card that reimbursed me for out of network fees charged when using foreign ATMS. However effective this month they have changed that to a $ amount per statement that they will reimburse.

my primary bank (TD Bank) has also instituted a flat $2. charge for all non-TD bank ATM withdrawals, both domestic and international.

Kindly note that rhkkmk used to own TD Bank!

What kind of Capital One card do you have? I have a current account with them, and they certainly haven't said anything about charging fees for using my ATM card! Now, if I tried to use my credit card for cash advances, that's another matter, but I only do that by accident.

thanks,RHKKMK.

yes, i was shocked by their added fees. Oh well, at least the card itself saved me transaction fees in Europe this summer.

BUT i think the miles accumulated can be used on ANY one-world allliance flight, eg AA?? Do you know??
