I really enjoyed seeing these, and wish I was as good a photographer as you!

Craig May 26th, 2009 09:18 AM

Thanks for all of your kind words. Although I put the presentation together, my wife Jeane took most of the photos of the hill-tribe people, especially the close-ups.

WOW, so not only have we gotten GREAT tips for forthcoming trips the photo's are AMAZING do you (Jeane) use a professional camera?

AskOksena May 26th, 2009 11:38 AM

Yes, Fantastic pics, Craig ! ... (Well, let's not get too carried away on this fine family friendly 'fodor's' forum of all of 17 posters) ...

... (yes, sole reason for replying: A certain 'Singapore Girl', and her most exceptional 'SQTalk' trip reports (pics) of late, including yes, SQ R/F/J re certain 'other' airlines ... (something for you and your mrs, to persue, perhaps, in 2011 ... understand you're flying UA 'new C' in '10 : just between us, avoid flying 'backwards', mid-row 8, and do your best to procure row 12 - enjoy) ...

... nothing other to add before I fly SFO-HKG-SIN (UA C / SQ J) this Thursday/Friday, other than for you to write a BKK Peninsula review and turn it a up notch with rooms/suites, floors 3___+ at that beloved Thai property ... (would so love to do a review of my (our) all-time favourite Asian hotel, but that little dog-loving Russian 'matchmaker' beat me to it) ... (but all is not lost : the all-time cherished Tokyo Park Hyatt awaits) ...

... keep up the good work, Craig, and always remember : Singapore Girls -- Forever...

macintosh (robert)

... 17A, all the way ...

Thanks forever, SIA B747 J crews, SQ 2/1, SIN-HKG-SFO ... (and your 'new' B77W J Asia- N.A. product isn't half bad) ...

fabulous pictures...I LOVED the market ones. The textiles in their outfits were outstanding. Surely some note cards in that lot..Karen

Smeagol,

I use a Canon Powershot A720 IS camera (not "professional") and Jeane uses Canon EOS 40D and Canon EOS 20D cameras (could be considered "professional").

What a terrific time you had reflected in these amazing pictures, makes us want to plan our next trip there!

Femi May 26th, 2009 06:03 PM

Very nice montage, the setting of the ecolodge in Sapa is magical.

dgunbug May 27th, 2009 07:26 PM

Craig - My husband and I have thousands of travel pictures stored on our computer and on DVDs, but we have never used a program like smugmug or others out there to share them with friends and family. How do you like Smugmug? Does anyone else suggest another program to share pictures?

Also, there was a thread on Fodors several months ago regarding a site that allows one to download their pictures and make a travel journal that can be purchased. Does anyone remember which website that was?

Smeagol May 27th, 2009 11:13 PM

Well i am just going to have to see how well my Lumix does and maybe take a look at those canons!! I am always a little disappointed with my photos but i think its me not the camera! When we were in Malaysia i decided to take pictures of more random things (including someone drying there underwear on a busy street) and they became a lot more interesting than my usual "heres me outside a temple"
I think that's one of the reasons yours are so good they have "real" people in them

absolutkz May 28th, 2009 05:25 PM

Smeagol made a good point - capturing the locals does change your photography. What is the protocol in Vietnam for taking pictures of the locals? Do you ask? Did anyone expected to be tipped?

rhkkmk May 28th, 2009 06:52 PM

nikki...try taking pics of muffin, you know how he is with cameras...
