I've only checked out the India photos so far and they are absolutely gorgeous. The homestay looks really interesting also-was that particular one recommended to you?

Craig Mar 21st, 2010 03:18 PM

moremiles - we based our decision to stay at Pahuna Haveli mostly on the fairly positive reviews on tripadvisor. The idea of doing a home-stay came from dogster who provided a link to an Indian home-stay website on one of my threads. Pahuna Haveli was one of the offerings but we booked direct because it was less expensive than going through that site.

can you pass along dogster's site for the home stays please..

wow what a difference at the fishing village since we were there.....the tide must have been down about 10 feet when you were there.....we saw no mud and the shells were all way under water....nicer with high tide....your monkey pics are fantastic...lots of panda relatives...

Excellent pictures Craig!

The India pictures are beautiful and the "clams in hands" picture(from Thailand) show one of my wife's favourite dish - raw cockles!

Now I really want to go to Varanasi. We are working on Andy and Beth for a future trip. The fishing village pictures brought back memories of a vey sepcial day we had there. Thanks for sharing your fabulous pictures.

Great pictures as usual Craig. Is it me or are a lot of the India pictures shrouded in a fog of some kind? Was the weather overcast a lot?

Aloha!

Hanuman Mar 22nd, 2010 06:48 AM

HT, The pictures are clear it's the smoke from whatever you're smoking in front of the monitor, a special Hawaiian blend?

Craig Mar 22nd, 2010 07:54 AM

HT - Many of the Varanasi photos were taken under foggy, misty or rainy conditions. In addition some of those were also taken early in the morning or early evening when the light wasn't great. We actually only had one really bad day, weather-wise - once you get past the first 25% of the photos, you will see that the fog has gone away. For most of our India trip we had bright, sunny weather.

lcuy - Jeane and I took about 750 photos between us, which is actually a bit less than on previous trips.

rhkkmk Mar 22nd, 2010 08:40 AM

lcuy--- the other photos were the really good ones which they will be selling....

hawaiiantraveler Mar 22nd, 2010 08:48 AM

Thanks Craig, the mist just reminded me of the air in N Thailand and Laos during the burning season.

Hanuman, No special blend.....just the usual Maui wowie with some Kona gold sprinkled over it....the usual relaxing Sunday morning in Hawaii nei!

Aloha!
