Costs and scuba diving in Sri Lanka?

My friend and I are avid scuba divers and would like some information about scuba diving in Sri Lanka. Are there good spots to see and good, safe outfitters who could arrange our dives and our equipment for us. Also, what would this cost us? Would appreciate any help on this topic.
Also curious about general costs in Sri Lanka. If a person wanted to stay in good quality (but not necessarily top-of-the-line) accomodations, see the sites and enjoy some nightlife, what would that person be looking at for costs?
Any help would be appreciated.

Hey Richard,
I was in Sri Lanka just under 2 years ago. When I was there I saw two or three dive shops in Hikkadewa. I recall the dives costing something like $20 US for a two tank dive inluding rental and boat. As far as reputable companies go, you should always check over the equipment before signing on. I think that there was a Swedish/German company that was generally thought of as the better place.
If you are into surfing you will be stoked by good waves this winter.
Hotels vary in cost, I stayed at the cheapest ones down in front of the point break on the beach (costs being only a couple of dollars a night).
You will have a great time; it is was of my favorite countries. I hope to return there later this year.
Cheers
