Copthorne Orchid Singapore?

I have been looking for discounted air/hotel package deals from Minnespolis and the one I'm currently looking at uses the Copthorne Orchid hotel. It sounds like its really out of the way--any comments on it, it's location, value, rating? Would it be frustrating to be in this location? Thanks.

I have only been in the lobby of the Copthorne Orchid so i can't comment on the rooms. It's 3 star quality, looked fairly clean, there were busses parked out front so it caters to tour groups. Has several restaurants in the hotel and I think there is a karaoke bar.

Regarding location.... Cabs are easy to find and very inexpensive, which is good since there is basically nothing you can walk to from that hotel. There is a bus stop outside the hotel, but I am not sure what lines run past there. It's not near an MRT stop.

It's about a 10 min cab ride to Orchard Rd shopping and restaurants, about 15 min from Chinatown, Little India, Chijmes, Raffles, Boat Quay etc. It's actually a little closer to the Night Safari than most other hotels.
Given the fact that there are hotels within walking distance of some of the tourist attractions, you might very well be frustrated by being there. there is another Copthorne (I think it's called the Grand) that is better located.

I agree 100% with Lindsey.
It is one of many average decent hotels in Singapore but it is a bit out of the way. Pity they don't offer any others. There is nothing wrong with the Copthorne from what I have heard but I go to Singapore every couple of months and it would not be in my top 10 choices, purely for location. The MRT system is excellent and cheap and it is so easy and fast. Taxis are good and cheap. Do they only offer the 1 hotel?
$60-80 a night for 2 gets you a decent hotel easily.

I did not mention that I myself 'always' stay at the 'Royal Peacock' Boutique hotel in Singapore. It does not have many facilities but the character of the place is totally 'Humphrey Boggart in Casablanca style', the rooms have so much character it makes a fascinating change from 'block' hotels. It's about USD 60 a night and in Chinatown.

My husband and I have stayed at the Copthorne. The rooms are very average, we were upgraded to the executive floor which was much nicer. Personally I would not stay there again. Too far from town. Their shuttle bus has scheduled times only and it's a long walk back in the heat. Buses are the only way to get there or cabs. MRT no where near it. My advice NO. We have been to Singapore three times, a cheaper hotel is the Summer View in Singapore and it is much closer to everything. Clean and breakfast included. Try them on the net.
