cooking class in Chiang Mai
 

About to book my cooking class with Chiang Mai Cooking School. I want to take one that goes to the market before. Are there any others that include that which you would recommend more highly? Or if you took this one how did you like it? I may decide to take two different classes so all input will be appreciated.

I have not taken from other companies, but I loved my 2 experiences with CM cooking school. I love going to the market. Be sure to pick up some fried bananas for a snack.

Hi Gloria - I've done 3 out of the 5 days, including the market visit and they were all fantastic. As the menus for each day are published on the website, we selected our days based on our preferred dishes and we now cook them at home. The cost of the class includes a cookery book so you do have the recipes for all the other classes too.

HI Gloria, That's the one we are doing in CM---know someone who did it a year ago and said it was great. It's also the one that was featured in Gourmet around that time. Am taking a full day, morning and afternoon class---I had looked into others and felt this one was a good choice

Kathryn-- which day are you taking it? I think we're going to do it on Jan. 7th. Did you book it already?

Should I book my class at the restaurant or at their home?

My friend did this last year and she took the class at their home (was also featured in the sky program "A lot of Thai" any how she said it was lovely.
I am doing it next week and have booked ( i think) class 1 at their home.

I emailed Chiang Rai Thai Cookery School and asked the difference between the home and restaurant location. Here's their answer:
As far as the
venue go, there is no different in teaching method and service at both
location but however the home is more natural as there is a herb garden
and it is in the country side then of course it is taking longer than
the restaurant site around an hour as of transportation.

The restaurant is centrally located. The cooking area is in the same
area of the restaurant which is wooden house. It is more convenience
for who are short of time or do not want to traveling as the class will
be completed earlier than the home site around an hour.
